Rather than just saying "Goodnight" to HB before she goes to bed, I like to remember something specific from the day and share it with her. It could be some memorable interaction we had, something she did that made me laugh, or some words of praise for something she did really well that day. Tonight, it was "Sweetheart, I had a lot of fun dancing to the "go, go, go" song with you. Did you have fun too?"
I think it's the little everyday things that really matter to children, rather than infrequent big gestures. So, think of how you can connect with your children in small frequent ways. And then reflect with them on those interactions to reinforce them.
Do you have any simple rituals for connecting with your children? Post them in the comments!
